Dennis J. Conklin, age 62, of Vicksburg, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was born in Kalamazoo, the son of Robert and Linda (Simpson) Conklin. Dennis attended Vicksburg High School and was part of the 1982 graduating class. Throughout his life, Dennis worked at numerous places, ranging from grocery stores, laundry mats, insurance companies, mortgage companies, Dillon’s Music, Great Lakes Chemical, and automotive dealerships. He was a people person and enjoyed helping others.
Dennis and music went hand in hand; writing his own songs, being able to play any instrument, and collecting classic vinyl records. He was often seen singing and playing with the Frylings and Endless Summer. For some time, he would often DJ at weddings, events, and parties; bringing the joy of music to anyone in ear-shot. Parallel to his love of music was his love for motorcycles. Triumph and BMW bikes were his go-to while he enjoyed the open road.
Dennis is survived by his parents; Linda (Jim) Reed and Robert Conklin; children; Casey (Nick) Grant and TJ Friend; siblings; Suzanne Conklin, Sherry Neiboer, Robin (Paul) Bashaw, David (Candy) Reed, and Jason (Mary) Potts; uncle Melvin (Sukie) Simpson; special cousin Vickey Schmittendorph; close friend Todd Brower; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended families, and MANY dear friends.
In keeping with family wishes, cremation is being conducted. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 10am until 12pm with services beginning at 12:00, all at West Mendon Community Church (22994 Portage Lake Road, Mendon, MI 49072) with Pastor Troy Peterson officiating.
