Fatal Calvin Township crash

A Cassopolis man died last week after the tractor he was driving was rear-ended by a car in Cass County’s Calvin Township.

Michigan State Police troopers said the incident occurred last Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. on Calvin Center Road near Calvin Hill Street.

Investigators said a 36-year-old Marcellus man was driving a pickup south on Calvin Center Road. His vehicle struck the back of a tractor that was also moving south.

The 73-year-old driver of the tractor was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.

Meanwhile, the pickup driver and his passengers, received minor injuries.

Troopers said distracted driving may have played a part in the crash.
