James Felsenthal, 81

James Robert Felsenthal, known to friends and family as Jim, passed away on August 1, 2025 in Three Rivers at the age of 81.

Born on June 7, 1944 in Chicago, Jim spent much of his life between Elmhurst, IL; Sanibel, FL; and Corey Lake, MI—places he loved deeply and shared with those closest to him. He was the beloved husband of Kathryn Felsenthal and the proud father of Patrick Felsenthal. He is also survived by his twin brother, Thomas Felsenthal; and his brothers John, Robert, Richard, and William Felsenthal. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Felsenthal and his parents, George and Frances Felsenthal.

Jim served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army and later worked as Vice President of The Edward George Company, contributing his leadership and dedication to the family business. But those who knew Jim best will remember him not only for his service or career—but for his enduring love of the outdoors.

A lifelong fisherman, avid gardener, and boating enthusiast, Jim had a deep and abiding affection for what he called “woods and water.” He was a camp counselor at heart, always eager to share a laugh, lend a hand, or simply enjoy the quiet magic of a day on the lake. He was known for his generosity and took great joy in entertaining guests.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on September 6, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Angelo’s Ristorante, 247 N. York St., Elmhurst, IL. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Arrangements by Hohner Funeral Home.
