Mary Hall, 83

Mary Alice (Stuart) Hall, age 83, of Colon, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 surrounded by her family at her home of 60 years. She was born to Harry Earl and Helen Irene Stuart on November 16, 1941 in Leonidas at the family farm.

She attended a one room school house just down the road from the farm until the 5th grade, then later graduated from Colon High School in 1960.

In 1960 she married Hart Inman of Athens, Michigan and they had three children, Crystal Ann born 1961, Angela Jayne born 1963 and Timothy Hart born 1966.
They divorced in 1972.

Mary was joined in marriage to Roger William Hall on July 5, 1975 at the Colon Church of God. They celebrated their 50th year Anniversary this past July.

She worked several jobs throughout her life including: Receptionist / Secretary, Sales Representative, Store Clerk, Daycare provider, Avon Representative, Colon Village Clerk, and newspaper delivery driver.

Mary had many talents which include:  playing alto saxophone, piano, organ and keyboard. She was the pianist for several churches over the years as well as music / program director for church choirs and children’s programs as well as funerals.

Best known for her radiant smile and bubbly personality, she always made you feel special.  You were always welcome in her home and there was always a fresh pot of coffee ready to share. Mary had the ability to make friends everywhere she went.

She loved her home on Willow Drive looking over Palmer Lake and enjoyed taking boat rides. She and Roger took many trips together through the United States and even a mission trip to Brazil in 1991. Always enjoyed taking drives, was an avid reader belonging to a special book club for several years as well as a Bible study group.

Mary gave her heart to the Lord at a young age and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Her faith helped her through many difficult times, giving her a positive outlook due to the promises in God’s word.

The highlight of her years was when her grandchildren were born.  Soon she became known as “Grandma Peaches” because of her love for all things peachy.

In the last few years she was blessed to be able to meet and help care for her seven great grandchildren, which brought her great joy.  Even though she struggled with Alzheimers dementia during those years she was obsessed with wanting to take them home with her.

She is survived by her husband Roger Hall, children Crystal (Bruce) Rolfe of Climax MI, Angela (David) Getsinger of Vicksburg, Timothy Inman of Colon, Step son Brian (Kim) Hall of Coldwater, step daughter Elizabeth (Rob) Thick of Howell, MI. Grandchildren: Ryan (Stacy) Getsinger of Portage, Cody (Josie) Getsinger of Wyoming, MI, Shelby (Jalon) Simpson of Portage, Gabe Serbantez of Marshall.  And several great grand children. Sister Doris Nichols of Sturgis. Sister-in-Law Lorraine Stuart of Spring Arbor, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Norma Shoop and Marcia Beckloff, brothers Robert Stuart and Marvin Stuart.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at  Schipper Funeral Home, 308 S. Blackstone Ave., Colon, MI 49040 between 6 and 8 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Bible Church, 1144 Dunks Rd., Sherwood, MI 49089.
Followed by graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery, Colon, MI.
Luncheon to follow at the Crossroads Bible Church,  1144 Dunks Rd., Sherwood, MI

In lieu of flowers,  memorial contributions may be made to:
Colon Food Pantry or the Crossroads Bible Church.
Envelopes will be available at both visitation and Schippers Funeral Home.
