Constantine Fire Chief Mike Hayden said he has trimmed more than $500,000 from the projected cost of the village’s new fire station.
During last week’s Constantine Village Council meeting, Hayen said he had met with senior project manager Mike Devries to find areas where cuts could be made in order to accommodate features that Hayden said he felt were higher in priority.
He said features that need to be a part of the new station include a bigger meeting room and more space between trucks. He noted a number of project-cost estimates were eliminated as well as a number of other amendments to bring the project cost down from $3.5 million to about $3 million.
