In 1951-1985 past Broadway Street at #1100 So. Douglas was Three Rivers Gas & Oil, Donald D. Yokom owner, wife Patricia, ch: Donald Jr., Matt, Mary Ann, Andrew. Mr. Yokom accumulated many Mobil and Union 76 gas stations beside running his oil and gas business servicing area homes and farms. There is no #1100 block of So. Douglas presently. The Yokom home was listed as Old M-60.

Old M-60, now Gleason Road, meets US-131 just south of town where M-60 and US-131 combine for a short distance. M-60 continues east through Three Rivers on Michigan Ave. not Broadway or Hoffman as had been planned. Harder Rd. instead of Gleason had been part of the planned route also.   July 1923 was the starting date in the Three Rivers area. The men built the road beds without today’s modern tools and machines. “Water boys” (area farmers sons) jobs were to carry water to the workers along the roadway.

Next time: South Erie and Health Parkway.
