Vicksburg Village council consider parking lot improvements

Improvements to a municipal parking lot in Vicksburg are a step closer to reality.

During last week’s village council meeting, village manager Jim Mallery reviewed a proposal centering on completing the design phase related to the parking lot behind businesses on the west side of South Main Street.

He said the parking lot redesign is being partially funded with a Michigan Economic Development Corporation grant of $635,000.

Council members OK’d a motion to enter into a $71,300 engineering agreement with Grand Rapids-based civil engineers Prein & Newhof.

Engineering is expected to be finished by late fall and the project itself is to be completed in 2026.
