David Richard Lampe, age 62, of Henderson, Nevada, and longtime former resident of Sturgis, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on March 2, 1963 in Sturgis, the son of Donard R. and Lois L. (Crowl) Lampe.
David spent his early years in Sturgis, where he graduated with the Sturgis High School Class of 1981. He continued his education at Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville, earning an associate degree before graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing.
In the late 1980s, David relocated to Arizona and later Nevada, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was an entrepreneur with a diverse career that included roles in service and production management, sales, and real estate.
During his high school years, David was a talented athlete, earning eight varsity letters. He was also proud to be an Eagle Scout with Troop 402. A passionate golfer, David enjoyed spending time on the course. While living in Sturgis, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 21 years, Susan (Jacoby) Lampe; his father, Donald R. Lampe of Sturgis; sister, Darcy (Jon) Hill of Columbus, Indiana; nephews and niece: Jeffrey Herman and Danny (Kayla) Herman, both of Sturgis, Alexandra Hill of Columbus, Indiana, and Jacob Hill of Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as two great-nephews and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Lampe, and his older sister, Diana R. Lampe Munn.
In accordance with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is assisting the family with local arrangements.
