Charles Colley, 84

Charles A. Colley, age 84, of Constantine, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.   He was born December 23, 1940 in Plainwell, a son of Roy and Joanne (VanderRoest) Colley. Chuck graduated from Oshtemo High School in 1958, and earned his teaching degree from Western Michigan University in 1962. On August 26, 1961, Chuck married Linda L. Shafer in Allegan, MI. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2025.

Chuck worked at Constantine Public Schools from 1962 – 2003, where he taught Math, Computer Science Programming, Industrial Arts, Woodshop, and also served as athletic director.  He was the wrestling coach from 1964 – 1980 and was inducted into the St Joe Valley Hall of Fame. Chuck was a drivers education teacher, and a Constantine School Board member following his retirement.

Chuck attended the Constantine and White Pigeon United Methodist Churches.  He was a member of the Constantine Jaycees, where he started the 4th of July celebration. Chuck was also involved in beginning the Constantine Little League.

Surviving are his daughter Michele (Colley) Anderson; son Chris Colley, all of Constantine; granddaughter Amber Anderson; and sister Carol Lou Colley, Gainesville, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister Betty Jo Craig; and step-mother Betty Colley.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine with Pastor Michelle Perkins and Pastor Scott Manning officiating.
