St. Joseph County Animal Control plans to open to the public next week following a quarantine of more than 14 days.
According to a posting on the agency’s Facebook page, the closure started Oct. 10 and was necessary as an attempt to mitigate an outbreak of disease within the kennel.
The office area remained open, but the kennel will re-open Monday.
In an unrelated matter, agency officials said the shelter is currently not able to accept owner surrenders.
