Helen L. Jenks, age 83, of Marshall, and a former resident of Sturgis, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
She was born Dec. 23, 1941, a daughter of the late William and Alice (Flanner) Hoisington.
On Jan. 7, 1995, in Maple Valley, MI she married Elzy Jenks. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2013.
Helen enjoyed sewing and working at the Sturgis Salvation Army, the Big Boy restaurants in Sturgis and Marshall, and also driving bus for the Sturgis Public Schools.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Donna (Ray) Bontrager of Sturgis, and Tonya (Jonathan Beck) Lykendal of Marshall; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Judy Gonzalez, Jean Lamb, and Patricia Hammond; 1 brother: Bill Hoisington; she also had many other children she had taken in and helped raise throughout her life that she loved very much.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 to 11:15 AM, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
A short Eulogy celebrating her life will be held at 11:15, immediately following the visitation, at the funeral home, with Joshua Cook, speaking.
Interment services will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta at 1:00. The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis, MI have been entrusted with the arrangements.
