James Stephen Minor, age 79, of Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital.
He was born October 19, 1945 in Houston, Texas, the son of Carl and Carolita Minor.
James served his country in the United States Navy, working on computers on a destroyer.
While stationed in Chicago, he met Judith Crockett at a party, and she instantly made him feel at ease. The two married in 1967 and shared more than 50 years together before her passing in 2019. As multiple sclerosis began to take its toll on her body, he served faithfully as her caregiver.
A jack-of-all-trades, James worked as a computer repairman at Dell Electronics before opening his own computer repair shop, Sierra Mike Electronics. He was a REALTOR for a number of years as well. After moving to Three Rivers in 2000, he began working in industrial maintenance for companies such as Exo-s.
Self-taught in many areas, he was a voracious reader with a wide variety of interests – but nothing was more important to read than Topsy-Turvy to the grandchildren. He was very intelligent and enjoyed regaling anyone around him with stories. In later years, he became a regular at Biggby Coffee and Mr. B’s Dairy Bar.
Remaining to cherish his memory are two sons, James Stephen “Steve” (Jackie) Minor Jr. and Paul Thomas (Pam) Minor; grandchildren, Stephanie Minor, James S. Minor III, William Minor, Montana (Steven) Miller, and Isaac (Ashley) Minor; great-grandchildren, Taelynn, Olivia, Ava, Katya, Alera, and one on the way; and brother, Michael Patrick “Mike” Minor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith Ann “Judy” Minor; and sister.
Private graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery.
Donations in James’ memory may be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Envelopes will be available at Hohner Funeral Home.
