Cass County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a stabbing and vehicle theft last week in Newberg Township.
Sheriff Clint Roach said deputies were called at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday to an area on Patterson Hill Road near Mann Street.
The county’s 911 central dispatch fielded a call from a citizen who said a person was stabbed and his vehicle stolen.
Deputies arrived and interviewed a man who said he had been riding around with two other male subjects and one of the men stabbed him. The two suspects then left the scene in the victim’s pickup.
Law-enforcement officials eventually located the stolen truck and arrested the two suspects. Meanwhile, the stabbing victim was treated at Elkhart General Hospital and was reported in stable condition.
Roach said names of all people involved are being withheld until suspects are arraigned.
