Substance Abuse Task Force begins Opioid Prevention and Awareness campaign

St. Joseph County Substance Abuse Task Force invites the public to learn more about the agency’s annual Opioid Prevention and Awareness campaign.

Each week, Substance Abuse Task Force members will post information on their Facebook page. The goal, according to prevention specialist Mikayla Finnerman, is to spread awareness throughout the community.

She said the promotion aligns with Centers For Disease Control’s awareness campaign, sharing stories of people whose lives are impacted by prescription opioids.

Goals of the campaign are to:

increase awareness that prescription opioids can be addictive and dangerous.
reinforce that help is available for those with an opioid disorder.
encourage those struggling with prescription opioids to visit the campaign website to locate help and resources.

  1. How much taxpayer $$$ sunk into this claptrap? After 25 plus years, who does not know the dangers of opioids? Lobotomized? And all you really offer is a website with unfunded and understaffed minimal resources? Thanks MAGA!
