Victor James “Jim” Decker, age 80, of Burr Oak, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born December 4, 1944 in Colon, a son of the late Victor Junior and Alene Belle (Fennell) Decker.
Jim was a lifelong resident of the Burr Oak area and a proud graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1963. On March 13, 1965, he married the love of his life, Mary Kathryn Summers, at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church—a union that blessed them with 60 wonderful years together.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Jim was the third-generation owner and operator of Victor Screw Products in Burr Oak, where he continued the family legacy until his retirement. He was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church and devoted many years of service to his community as a firefighter with the Burr Oak Fire Department.
Jim had a lifelong love of the water and especially enjoyed boating. He also had a special appreciation for antique outboard motors and could often be found restoring or admiring them.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary; daughter, Kelly (Garry) Massey of Burr Oak; son, Brian Decker of Burr Oak; honorary son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Ilona Lee of Colon; and honorary granddaughter, Danielle Lee of Illinois.
In honoring Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial of the remains will be held Monday, October 20th at 2:00 at Burr Oak Cemetery. Chaplain Rodger Moyer of Thurston Woods Village will officiate.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
