Deborah Fink, 68

Deborah May Fink, age 68, of Sturgis, passed away on October 17, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

She was born June 11, 1957 in Springfield, Ohio, daughter of William and Margaret “Peggy” (Freeman) Bowser. Debbie made Sturgis her home in 1984, and on February 14, 1987, she married the love of her life, James Fink, at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. The two shared 41 wonderful years of love, laughter, and partnership.

Debbie was a hard worker and took pride in all that she did. She retired from L&W Engineering in Middlebury, Indiana, after 18 years of dedicated employment. Before that, she worked for many years at Multiplex Corporation in Howe, Indiana, until its closing, and also spent five years greeting customers and serving meals at Lindy’s Diner in Sturgis—where her friendly smile was always remembered.

A woman of faith, Debbie attended Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church in Howe. She loved reading, playing cards, and watching Chicago-based television shows. More than anything, Debbie treasured time spent with her family. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; her children, Kristol Flowers, Angela Nolty, and James Fink; her mother, Margaret “Peggy” Neher; sister, Becky Neher; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and brothers, Jeffery, Michael, and Kevin Bowser.

In keeping with Debbie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, with interment at Pretty Prairie Cemetery in rural Howe.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial donations may be directed to the family c/o James Fink, 70905 Bauman Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091. Relatives and friends are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.hackmanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
