Gerardo Cruz Reyes, age 23, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday evening, November 22, 2025, at Corwell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
He was born October 17, 2002 in Sturgis, son of Gerard Cruz and Maricella Reyes.
Gerardo was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a 2021 graduate of Sturgis High School. He had been employed at Walmart in Sturgis and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Gerardo enjoyed playing soccer, traveling to Mexico, taking drives in his car that he loved, and playing video games. His favorite singer was The Weeknd, and his favorite holiday was Christmas. He found great joy in giving and gifting to others.
He is survived by his parents; sisters: Gabriela (Luis) Duran and Beatriz Cruz both of Sturgis; brother: Kevin Cruz of Sturgis; nephew: Broly; nieces: Annabelle and Ximena; and grandparents: Rosa and Alfredo Cruz and Rosa and Jose Reyes.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 28th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Gerardo Cruz Reyes will take place at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 29th at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 402 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. The Rev. Father Andrew Raczkowski will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
