Mendon High School’s bid for a state volleyball championship fell short over the weekend.
The Lady Hornets lost in three straight sets to Fowler High School in Division 4 play Saturday at Battle Creek’s Kellogg Arena.
The squads battled to a 30-28 final in the first set before Fowler took the second, 25-19. In the third and deciding set, the Lady Hornets were defeated, 25-22.
For the Lady Eagles, the win marked the school’s first-ever state volleyball championship.
