Nolan Hanson, 65

Nolan Jay Hanson, born on November 26, 1959, beloved son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend, went to Heaven on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, after a 9 month fight with his health.  He was 65 years old.  Nolan attended Colon High School and was part of the 1979 graduating class.  He worked at the Colon Schools Bus Garage (his favorite job) as a mechanic and bus driver.  He retired from IAC in Mendon, where he worked for over 30 years, and was the “right hand man” to his brother, Jeff, at Hanson’s Deer Processing for many years. Nolan also volunteered his time as a member of the Sherwood Fire Department.

Nolan loved taking trips to Eldora Speedway in Ohio, to watch the sprint car races; an event where you could enjoy a beer – flavored with track dirt.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time in nature.  Cruising around the back country roads and singing Seminole Wind by John Anderson with his lovely wife always made for a magical memory.  Nolan looked forward to wintertime because that meant he could misbehave with his snowmobiles, and occasionally, do donuts in the yard with his truck. Another reason he loved winter, was the Christmas light shows, traveling everywhere to see the flickering lights.

On June 10, 2014, he married the love of his life, Rae Ann Little, who continued to be his rock until his passing.  There are not enough words to be said about the loving care she gave him especially over these last few months.  His family will be forever grateful to her.

Nolan is survived by his wife, Rae Ann; mother-in-law, Jo Ann; stepsons, Ryan, Jake, and Hezekiah; father, Michael (Deanne) Hanson; brothers, Jeff (Sherry) Hanson, Ken (Bonnie) Hanson; sister, Michelle (Rick) Hodgson; his puppy dogs; Sally, Rico, and Sammy (Nolan was Sammy’s chew toy).  He was preceded in passing by his mother, Sheila, and beloved nephew, Andy.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation is taking place.  A memorial birthday party will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11am at Crossroads Bible Church (1144 Dunks Road, Sherwood, MI 49089) with Pastor Trent Hammond officiating.  It is suggested that donations made in Nolan’s name, be made to either his family, or Crossroads Bible Church.  Condolences and memories may be expressed to his family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
