Wilson L. Slentz, age 85, of LaGrange, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at his residence. He was born on February 27, 1940 in Hartford City, Indiana, to Ruth Eugenia (Slentz) Flatter.
Wilson was a 1958 graduate of Hartford City High School. After graduation, he served in the Indiana National Guard. On December 17, 1960, he married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Enochs, at the Methodist Church in Montpelier, Indiana.
The couple first moved to the Elkhart area for work and later settled in LaGrange, where they have lived in the same home since 1976. Wilson worked as a tool and die maker at the Kirsch Company in Sturgis, dedicating his career there from 1969 until his retirement in 2000. He learned his trade at Glen Oaks Community College, earning credentials that supported his lifelong skill and craftsmanship.
Wilson was an avid golfer and a proud 33rd Degree Master Mason. He was a member of the Meridian Sun Lodge F&AM #76, where he formed many lasting friendships. He was also a devoted Boy Scout Leader and guided Troop #792 in LaGrange for several years.
Surviving Wilson is his wife of 64 years, Joyce Ann of LaGrange; his son, Gregory Allen (Carla) Slentz of Rensselaer, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Dylan Perry of Rensselaer, IN, Spencer Slentz of Howe, IN, John Sawicki of Howe, IN, Wanda (Alexander) Young of Milford, IN, Lola Morgan of Waco, TX, Tasha Ruickert of Pennsylvania, and Seth Ruickert of Michigan; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother; his son, Gary Dean Slentz; and his brother, Clyde R. “Dickie” Jones.
In keeping with Wilson’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and the family will hold a private gathering at a later date.
