Woodrow Ralph Thompson, Sr., age 82, of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 27, 1943 in Detroit, the son of Ralph and Arlene (Phillipi) Thompson, and graduated from Mackenzie High School Class of 1961.
Woodrow earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Michigan State University Class of 1965 and went on to own a successful construction business (Willow Lake Construction/Development) and a successful Hunting Preserve (Willow Lake Sportsman’s Club). In expanding his hunting preserve knowledge, he was co-owner of Kikuyu Lodge in Alexandria, South Africa.
Woodrow was a lifetime avid hunter and sportsman. He loved the outdoors, hunting with his kids and his best friend (dog) Max.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his 6 children, Woodrow Jr. (Sheila), Kristen Braun (Joeseph), Wendy Fourie (Jacques), Kate Mazich, Wade (Heidi) & Whitney VanAvery. 18 Grand Children, Heather, Woodrow III, Shada, Emma, Dani, Darrick, Alexa, Andrew, Cody, Cheyenne, Paige, Wyatt, Lane, Easton, Taylor, Reed, Rowan and Case. 11 Great Grandchildren, Callie, Chance, Hayden, Joseph, Douglas, Halen, Theodore, Ashton, Ella, Luca & Mila.
Woodrow was proceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Arlene, brother Bob, and sister Carol Nowling.
In accordance with family wishes a celebration of life will be scheduled in the future.
