Charles “Chuck” Elmer Chrisman, age 91, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Born on May 8, 1934, in Three Rivers, Chuck was the son of Elmer and Ruth (Eash) Chrisman. He grew up in the community he loved, graduating with the Three Rivers High School Class of 1954.
Shortly after graduation, Chuck proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with dedication. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Mary Beth Nash. The two shared 54 years of marriage until her passing in 2008.
Chuck led a varied and hardworking career. He spent 11 years with Continental Can, later working at Fischer Body in Kalamazoo for 5 years. In 1968, Chuck and his family moved to Alaska, where he worked for Badger Construction and later Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. After nearly two decades, he returned to Three Rivers in 1986, reconnecting with his roots and the community he cherished.
A man of many talents, Chuck loved woodworking and crafting. He was especially known for creating rocking chair animals and children’s toys—treasures that brought joy to many. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting deer, moose, and bear, as well as spending time fishing in Michigan and Alaska. Chuck was a devoted member of Bethany Chapel in Three Rivers and lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service.
Chuck is survived by his children: Kathy (Shawn) Jones of Anchorage, AK; Janice (Hernan) Chrisman-Rivas of Wasilla, AK; and Christopher (Roxy) Chrisman of Greenville, MI; 21 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his brother James (Julia) Chrisman of Three Rivers; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Beth; his parents; and his sisters, Irene Tokarski, Opal Brown and Doris Jean Evans.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Chuck’s brother Jim and his wife Julia, as well as his nephew Jason and his wife Nikki Chrisman, and Gail and John Schrader for their loving support and care.
In accordance with Chuck’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on May 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moorepark Cemetery.
