Engineering firm honored for work on Constantine Waste-water treatment plant

The engineering firm behind a major public-works project in Constantine was recognized for its role in the process.

Fleis & VandenBrink was behind the village’s effort to re-start Constantine’s waste-water treatment plant. The project was honored as “Project of the Year” by Southwest Michigan American Public Works Association. The accolade was bestowed for projects between $5 million and $25 million.

The treatment plant had been abandoned for more than two decades before Constantine officials decided to keep waste-water treatment in-house rather than send effluent to Three Rivers for treatment.

The refurbished treatment plant has been fully revived into a modern, sustainable and community-focused facility.

Fleis & VandenBrink assisted the village in a number of ways, including securing funding for design, permit acquisition and construction.

  1. Yeah, this project of the year is costing Constantine folks a lot on their water bill. A friend of mine received a $400 bill last month.

  2. Just wait. There’s millions of dollars of debt sitting on villagers plates for their little in-house rah-rah.

  3. Did they get a facility manager and team yet? Or are they patting themselves on the back begore they even have trained staff hired?
