Linda Beth Cubbernuss, age 80, of Mendon, passed away at Nu Care Assisted Living in Sturgis on December 14, 2025 after a long illness. She was born in Fawn River Township on April 17, 1945 the daughter of Clair and Frances (James) Decker. Linda attended Colon High School and was part of the 1963 graduating class. A few weeks after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Richard “Cubby” Cubbernuss, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Colon. Linda enjoyed listening to country music, tending to her beautiful flowers in her garden, and playing cards. She knitted blankets for friends and family while she watched a good Lifetime movie. Linda’s homemade cinnamon rolls and cookies were always a treat the family looked forward to. Linda loved her Cubby, she loved her children, and absolutely adored her grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard “Cubby” Cubbernuss; two children; Joy (Scott) Hassinger and Rick Cubbernuss; five grandchildren; Aaron, Brookleigh, Teaghen, Allison, and Emily; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Bruce (Chris) Decker; her sister, Susan Lavy-Glass; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended families. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Clair and Frances Decker; and her brothers, Lewis, Wayne, Ron, and Allan Decker.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation is being conducted. A celebration of life for Linda will be scheduled at a later date. It is suggested that donations made in Linda’s name be directed to Three Rivers Health Homecare and Hospice (711 S Health Parkway, Three Rivers, MI 49093).
