Phyllis Ann Schuler, age 77, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday morning, December 4, 2025, at her home.
She was born November 15, 1948 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Emery and Marilyn (Nichols) Bowsher.
On August 22, 1975, she married William Paul “Biggie” Schuler in Centreville.
Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Sturgis and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1966. She had been employed for many years as a service advisor with Meyers Service Station in Sturgis and also worked as a bartender at several area establishments, including VFW Post #1355 and Eagles Lodge #1314.
She was a proud and active member of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary #1314 and V.F.W. Post #1355 Auxiliary, both in Sturgis. Phyllis was artistically gifted and in recent years enjoyed diamond art painting. She loved reading, cherished animals and wildlife, and especially enjoyed feeding and watching her birds. Her beloved dog, Moxie, held a special place in her heart.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Tracey (Kurt) Rogers of Three Rivers, Zachary (AJ) Schuler of Elkhart, Lucas (Julie) Schuler of Sturgis, and Shawn Schuler of Sturgis; twelve grandchildren; sister, Laura Bowsher of Antler, North Dakota; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Biggie” Schuler; and daughter-in-law, Jaime Schuler.
In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00–4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13th at VFW Post #1355, 264 W. Fawn River Rd., Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
