United Way sets up catastrophic fund for local boy

A family catastrophic fund has opened for a St. Joseph County boy who experienced a medical emergency earlier this month.

Overseen by St. Joseph County United Way, the fund is dedicated to the family of Vaughn Geiger.

He is under the care of personnel at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. The goal is for Geiger to be transferred to Mary Free Bed as soon as possible.

The family is in need of support with gas cards, medical deductibles, medication and other medical-related expenses due to Geiger’s mom currently being out of work.

Fund organizers said 100 percent of all donations will go directly to supporting Geiger.

More information is available through St. Joseph County United Way: sjcuf.com.

  1. Confused by sentence wording about “fund organizers” promise. Who exactly are the “fund organizers” because there is nothing about the Geigers on the St. Joseph County United Way website.

  2. Why is there nothing about this on their website?
