Beverlee Kay Potter, age 70, of Marcellus, passed away at her home unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. She was born in Kalamazoo on August 20, 1955 the daughter of LeRoy and Eleanore (Hughes) Newton. She attended Schoolcraft public schools. On August 15, 1987 she married Robert Potter in White Pigeon.
Beverlee loved to garden, tending to her bright and beautiful flowers and produce. Animals were her passion, boarding horses, raising chickens, and yes, having a pet raccoon; she especially spoiled her little doggies, giving them a treat any time they begged. Beverlee had to keep her hands busy, doing puzzles, diamond paintings, and crocheting blankets for her family. She was a thrifty shopper, which lead to many tiny collections, ranging from painted ponies, cat plates, Breyer figurines, and much more. Beverlee’s homemade chicken noodle soup and potato salad were dishes that never lasted long because they were so delicious. Beverlee adored her grandchildren, and even “adopted” their friends.
Beverlee is survived by her son, Chris (Shelby) Newton; six grandchildren; Cameron Newton, Aleeah Newton, Kasey (Lucas) Chartrand, Seth (Aurora) Coleman, Stephanie Chartrand, Kevin (Heather) Lytle; nine great-grandchildren; Raegan, Leina, Lucian, Freya, Salem, Savanna, Zac, Jace, Angel; two brothers; LeRoy (Judy) Newton, Wes (Kim) Newton; and many nieces, nephews, and extended families. She was preceded in passing by her parents LeRoy and Eleanore Newton; her son LeRoy Newton; and her husband Robert Potter.
A funeral service will be held for Beverlee on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 1:00 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, with Chaplain Carl Austin officiating. Following the service, burial will take place at Howardsville Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be expressed to her family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
