St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners will be chaired for the second consecutive year by Three Rivers-area resident Jared Hoffmaster.
During a special meeting Tuesday and in a split-vote decision, Hoffmaster was voted leader of the seven-member panel for 2026.
As part of their annual, first-meeting-of-the-year process, board members nominated and then voted on a peer to serve as chairman. They then repeated the process to secure a vice-chair; that post went to Luis Rosado.
Commissioners Christina Yunker, Rusty Baker and Terry Conklin voted against the motion to approve Hoffmaster as chairman of the board.
Hoffmaster, who turned 44 on New Year’s Day, is a Pleasant Lake resident. He represents Flowerfield Township, a portion of Fabius Township and a portion of Three Rivers. He is starting his sixth year as a county commissioner after previously serving six years as a member of the Three Rivers City Commission.
Commissioners are paid $9,690 annually.
