A former Three Rivers resident was sentenced last week to at least five years in prison after previously entering a no-contest plea to two counts of criminal-sexual conduct in the third degree in St. Joseph County Circuit Court.
Prosecutor Deb Davis said Kaitlyn Sand, 34, was sentenced Friday by Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman.
Sand, who was previously identified as 28-years-old, was a contract food-service worker for Mendon Community Schools when she instigated a sexual relationship with two minor victims between February and April 2023, according to Davis.
Davis said prior to sentencing, the court heard arguments from the prosecution and defense before a sentence of five to 15 years in prison was ordered.
Stutesman said Sand will be eligible for parole consideration after serving the minimum sentence imposed by the court.
Third-degree CSC is a felony offense. Sand is also subject to lifetime registration under the Michigan Sex Offender Registration Act.
Davis urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant regarding social media and messaging applications used by minors.
