James Edward Lung, age 89 of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2026, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.
He was born June 27, 1936 in LaGrange, the son of the late Cloise and Ruby (Rodman) Lung. Jim resided at Kline’s Resort near Three Rivers for the past 11 years, coming from Sturgis, where he lived most of his life.
On December 31, 1976, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Jean Pierucki, at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. Jim was a talented millwright, retiring from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 37 years of dedicated employment.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, working around his home, and could usually be found tinkering on one project or another. He took pride in staying busy and fixing things, a trait that defined much of his daily life.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Cheryl; his children, Deborah Ryker of Burr Oak, Sherry Schultz of Sturgis, and Patricia (Guy) Sias of Bronson; grandchildren, Shantelle Schultz, Joshua Schultz, John Ryker, Chris Sias, Matt Sias, and Brandi Modert; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Argyle Lung.
In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 on Friday, January 23, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
