Organizers behind the annual spring collection of household hazardous waste and electronics recycling at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds have announced the 2026 date.
According to the St. Joseph County Conservation District, this year’s spring event will be Tuesday, May 5. The four-hour event starts at 2 p.m.
Items accepted include up to 10 free tires per county resident, hazardous waste, and electronics, including up to two TVs at no charge, laptop and desktop computers, and microwaves and televisions.
Other accepted items include cardboard, junk mail, newspapers and magazine.
Prohibited items include explosives, glass, plastic, Styrofoam, refrigerators/freezers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners.
The collection will also accept latex and oil-based paint, and oil-based stain. There is a $3 fee for latex paint cans.
The fall collection is Oct. 6.
