Marcia Wittenberg, 81

Marcia Lee Wittenberg passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on April 29, 1944 in Coshocton, Ohio, Marcia’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to education, community, and faith.

Marcia dedicated her professional life to the noble cause of education, shaping the minds and hearts of countless young individuals. Marcia worked as an administrator of the Head Start program and as a high school teacher, where her leadership and passion for education left an indelible mark on the children that she taught. Her colleagues remember her as a pillar of support and an innovator who always sought to improve the educational landscape.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Marcia was a very active member of the Constantine United Methodist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and interactions with those around her. Marcia’s involvement in church activities extended beyond mere participation; she was a leader, a mentor, and a friend to all within her spiritual community. Her unwavering dedication to her faith was evident in her compassionate demeanor and her commitment to service.

Marcia’s interests and talents were many, but her love for her community stood out. She was a familiar face at various church and community events, always ready to lend a hand or offer a kind word. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to those who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt by the many lives she touched.

Marcia is survived by her husband of 42 years, Roger Wittenberg; her children, Anne Wittenberg, Mike and his wife, Ginny Lum Wittenberg, Mary Beth (Duane) Mast and Ben Geisler; her grandchildren, Allyson (Ken) Morrisey, Chelsea (Jeremy) Thomas, Dylan Geisler, Donovan Mast and Abigail Mast; great-grandchildren, Amelia Morrisey, Alanna Morrisey, Lily, Leo and Violet Thomas; sister, Kathy (Bob) Finkbiner along with several nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lorena Sims and her sister Linda Taylor.

As we bid farewell to Marcia Lee Wittenberg, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. Her legacy of kindness, education, and faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Marcia’s journey on this earth may have concluded, but the light she brought into the world will shine on in the memories of her family and the countless individuals she impacted throughout her remarkable life.

Funeral services for Marcia will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Constantine United Methodist Church, 285 White Pigeon St., Constantine, with Pastor Karen Wheat officiating.

Marcia’s family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Eley Funeral Home – Constantine Chapel, 280 S. Washington St., Constantine, MI 49042 and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of services at the church.

A private interment will take place at Calhoun Cemetery.
