Cass County officials have identified a young man who died in Friday’s tornado.
Sheriff Clint Roach said it received a call around 3:15 p.m. Friday from the parents of 12-year-old Silas Anderson.
Roach said dispatchers were told by the parents they witnessed a tornado touch down by Conrad Road in a rural area northwest of Edwardsburg and that the parents indicated they could not find their son.
Emergency workers were dispatched to the area and noticed Anderson’s parents had apparently located their son and were performing life-saving measures. However, the youth died later while in medical care, Roach said.
Roach did not elaborate on the circumstances that put Anderson into the critical state.
