Cass County warns of scams following tornado

Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach is urging homeowners to use caution in order to avoid getting scammed.

In light of last week’s tornado damage, Roach suggested being wary of unfamiliar companies or contractors; watching out for individuals who are pushy, demand money upfront or insist on giving an immediate quote for repairs; referring all contractors to the company representing your homeowners insurance; and avoiding a discount for cash payment no matter the extent of work.

Roach said to also be cautious of people who perform work without authorization then demand payment.

County Emergency Management Director Manny DeLaRossa and a non-profit crew are assessing damage and preparing to assemble a volunteer cleanup crew.
