The Michigan Secretary of State office on Vans Avenue in Coldwater will close Monday for one week while it relocates to a temporary site to allow for a remodeling project.
Its temporary location opens at 9 a.m. April 6 at 490 Marshall St., in Coldwater.
The project includes redesigning the office layout and adding a public restroom, new signage and siding on the exterior, and a multi-use room for staff.
State officials said they expect to complete the Vans Avenue project in September.
During next week’s closure, residents will have other options to complete their transactions. Many can be completed online. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet or mobile phone.
Self-service stations provide instant license plate, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options. The nearest self-service station is located in the Coldwater Meijer.
