Road commission lifts frost law restrictions

St. Joseph County Road Commission officials have announced the end of seasonal speed and weight restrictions.

The so-called “Frost Laws” went into effect Feb. 16, posing weight restrictions, and calling for a reduction in truckloads by 35 percent and speed to 35 miles per hour.

Agency officials said the restrictions are removed once it is likely the freeze-thaw cycle experienced toward the later stages of winter have abated.
