A popular attraction at Scidmore Park Zoo passed away last week.
Beau, a 29-year-old mini donkey, died March 19.
Zoo officials said Beau had developed arthritis in his joints as a result of his age. In addition, his teeth had worn down drastically, which made eating difficult.
Over the winter, his ailments gradually worsened, capped by a rapid decline in his last week.
With no realistic hope of any type of recovery, the decision to euthanize was made. He was surrounded by those who loved him dearly, zoo officials said.
Beau was 7 years old when he was adopted by Three Rivers in July 2004 from Manilla, Ind.
