UAW Local 2093 members staged a so-called “Solidarity Rally” Sunday outside Three Rivers High School.
Event organizers said the rally was to bring attention to the current contract with American Axle & Manufacturing expiring May 31.
Union representatives said workers in 2008 suffered a cut in pay from $29 an hour to $14.50 an hour. Wages currently top out at $22 an hour in Three Rivers and UAW officials said they expect a contract that recognizes their value to the firm along with their sacrifice over the last 18 years.
UAW members’ demands include no concessions, no tiers, fairer wages and profit sharing, better health care, stronger retirement and job security.
