Verna Hardy, 81

Verna Lee Hardy, age 81, was born on June 23, 1944 in Itta Bena, Mississippi, to the late Abraham and Lucenthia Harris. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, March 20, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those who cherished her.

On September 5, 1963, Verna united in holy matrimony with C.T. Hardy, and to this union five children were born. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for others.

Verna was a nurturing and compassionate individual who loved her family deeply. She was a God-fearing woman who trailblazed by delivering care, support, and guidance to her family and to many others in her community. Her life was an example of service, faith, and strength—qualities she passed on to her children.

She worked faithfully as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for Adapt and various social service families, where she provided dedicated and compassionate care. She retired from her career in September 2006, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and professionalism in the healthcare field.

In addition to her parents Abraham and Lucenthia Harris, Verna was preceded in death by two beloved children, Carl Hardy and Angela Hardy; four brothers, Clarence Harris, Larry Harris, Abraham Harris, and Willie Dan Harris; and brother-in-love Johnny Harris.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children: Brenda (David) Allen of Cassopolis, Elaine (Leonard) Murrell of Dallas, Texas, and Trentice Hardy of Sturgis.

Her loving siblings also survive her: Lee Harris; Melvin (May) Harris; Cynthia (Terry) Harris; and Deloris Harris.  She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters-in-love: Shirley Harris, wife of the late Abraham Harris; and Lois Harris, wife of the late Larry Harris.

She also leaves a legacy of love through her fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers.

The family will observe a private remembrance as they come together in love and faith to celebrate her life and give thanks for her lasting legacy.

Verna Lee Hardy will always be remembered for her caring heart, her strong faith in God, and her lifelong commitment to serving others. Her love and legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
