Brush-and-leaf pickup in Sturgis

The city of Sturgis is in the midst of its annual spring brush-and-leaf pick up.

Department of Public Services workers started the task Monday on the city’s north side.

Crews will work their way south and make only one pass through the community.

Sturgis officials said weather conditions and an unpredictable amount of material make it difficult to adhere to a specific schedule.

Limbs, branches or brush material larger than four inches in diameter, or longer than eight feet in length, will not be collected. In addition, no grass clippings, roots, thorn-bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps or construction material will be collected.
