Construction setup begins at courthouse

Construction staging and setup activity starts this week for work related to the $12.5 million St. Joseph County Courts Building renovation, marking the first comprehensive updates to the facility in more than 50 years.

According to a media release, the project is designed to improve safety, modernize building systems, and enhance overall court operations for residents and staff.

As a result of staging, there will be parking lot closures and intermittent traffic restrictions on streets adjacent to the Centreville-based building over the course of the 18-month project.

All individuals conducting business in the Historic Courthouse are required to enter through the designated secure entrance and pass through security screening. This change applies to all visitors, employees and contractors.
