St. Joseph County Grange Fair officials announced last week Regina Schinker has been hired as manager of the Centreville-based operation.
A Mendon Township resident and lifelong St. Joseph County resident, Schinker brings deep community roots, strong leadership experience and a lifelong passion for the fair to the role, according to Keith Bower, fair board president.
Schinker’s great-grandparents, Lloyd and Edith Cupp, were dedicated Grange members and fair board leaders, later honored with induction into the St. Joseph County Grange Fair Hall of Fame. That legacy continues today, as Schinker’s extended family – including her mother, aunts, cousins and three children – have also been actively involved in the fair and 4-H.
The 55-year-old Schinker has most recently served for several years as the Open Class Chicken co-superintendent.
Her doctoral dissertation, 4-H Leaders: Factors that Affect Their Persistence in the 4-H Youth Development Program, was published in 2010.
She takes over the position May 18.
Schinker currently serves as president of Mendon Community Schools Board of Education.
