David James Smith, Sr. age 51 of Sturgis, passed away Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, at his home.
He was born November 6, 1974 in Kalamazoo, son of the late Norval Frank and Dixie Lynn (Denman) Smith, II.
David resided in Sturgis the past four years coming from Troy, Ohio.
He married Christina Cox in Troy.
David was a card collector and enjoyed fishing. He loved caring and helping others, especially his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife: Christina; son: David James Smith, II; daughter: SueAnna (Jacob Stefanko) Smith of Union, Ohio; grandson: Bentley William James Stefanko; sisters: Ellen (Eric) Stuller of East Leroy and Amanda Sue Apple of Ohio; brother: Norval Frank Smith, III of East Leroy and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Brian Smith.
In honoring David’s wishes cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date.
