Doreen Benjamin, 74

Doreen Lucille Benjamin, age 74, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 4, 2026, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born on December 28, 1951 in Pontiac, Michigan to Dora Lucille Williams.

Doreen was known for her vibrant spirit and love of life. She could often be found dancing—whether in the house, the kitchen, or even the car—bringing joy to those around her. She had a fondness for Care Bears, wrestling, and wolves and coloring, and she was well known as the family’s “coffee influencer,” often being the first to offer you your first cup. She loved to walk and could outwalk just about anyone.
Her greatest accomplishment in life was her children. She taught her son Jason how to ride a bike and played a central role in shaping him into the man he is today. Doreen loved her family deeply and treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Aunt D” and “Aunt Reen,” she held a special place in many hearts. She was also a faithful attendee of Light & Life (LLWC).

Doreen is survived by her sons, John (Elaine) Benjamin and his family of New Jersey, and Jason Benjamin of Flint, Michigan; her siblings, Richard Williams of Tennessee, James Williams, Linda (Thomas) Burgess of Kansas, and Kimberly Stevens of Three Rivers; her nieces and nephews Dawn (Rodney) Fraley, Raechel Rollins, Autumn Wainwright, Betty Kerley Aleia (Chris) Todd and TJ Stevens; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dora Lucille Williams; her daughter-in-law, Danielle Benjamin; her sister-in-law: Donna Williams; her aunt and uncle, Donald and Cora Sands; and her nephew, Anthony Tague.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held on April 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Services, 305 Rock River Ave., Three Rivers, Michigan 49093, with Rev. Pastor Ryan Lutz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The family kindly asks that those attending the memorial service wear purple in honor of Doreen, as it was her favorite color.
