Fair manager to step down at end of contract

St. Joseph County Grange Fair manager Christina Yunker has issued a statement regarding her decision to step down after her contract expires next month.

The 48-year-old Sturgis Township resident said her decision follows careful evaluation of the fair’s organizational direction and leadership environment, and reflects her commitment to maintaining professional standards, healthy workplace practices and clear operational expectations.

Yunker said ongoing organizational and leadership challenges have limited her ability to advance long-term goals in a way that aligns with the expectations and systems necessary for sustained success.

She added that her decision to not renew her contract is a deliberate and thoughtful choice based on the alignment of her professional values.

Yunker’s contract expires May 12.

Yunker plans to maintain her position as a member of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners.

Fair board president Keith Bower said Yunker’s replacement will be named soon.
