Medical issue causes Marcellus crash

A medical condition is believed to have been a factor in a single-vehicle crash last week in the village of Marcellus.

Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach said deputies responded around 12:30 p.m. Thursday to 290 S. Centre St. in response to a vehicle that had crashed into a business.

Investigators determined 35-year-old Marcellus resident Wesley Cummings was driving south on South Centre Street when he appeared to experience a medical issue. His vehicle crashed through a fence and subsequently into Big Tony’s Pizzeria.

Cummings was airlifted to Beacon Hospital Kalamazoo.
