Nottawa road project continues with second phase

Michigan Department of Transportation officials said a road project that started Monday in Nottawa Township features a second component.

MDOT’s Nick Schirripa said the original project covers 1.1 miles and extends east from Nottawa Street in Centreville to Shimmel Road. The second phase is a $4.5 million project from Shimmel Road east to M-66, all within Nottawa Township.

Covering five miles, the work will include asphalt overlay, shoulder widening, crack-seal treatment, guardrail upgrades, shoulder corrugations and pavement markings.

Schirripa said motorists can expect single-lane closures, supervised by personnel who will monitor one lane of traffic in each direction.

He said the project is scheduled to be completed July 31.
