In recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, St. Joseph County Central Dispatch Director Stacey Bower has shared a resolution from the state’s 9-1-1 Committee.
This week serves as an opportunity to highlight and honor the critical role of 9-1-1 telecommunicators, often referred to as the “first, first responders.”
Bower said these professionals are the calm, steady voice on the other end of the line during emergencies, providing life-saving instructions and coordinating the response of police, fire and EMS personnel.
The resolution outlines the statewide recognition of Michigan’s telecommunicators, and details information about their responsibilities, training and the volume of calls they manage each year.
