Benefactors of the local National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” national drive are looking for volunteers to assist with next month’s collection.
The collection will be on May 10.
It is the largest, one-day food drive in the nation and critical in supporting Kalamazoo County’s food pantry, according to its business and volunteer manager, Sabrina Witbeck.
The Kalamazoo Salvation Army last year received more than 8,000 pounds of non-perishable food donations through the United States Postal Service collection.
Witbeck said 46 volunteers are needed at various times over a three-day period covering multiple shifts. Help is needed May 9 at the Parchment Post Office, and May 11 and 12 at the agency’s program support facility in Kalamazoo.
More information is available from Witbeck at 344-6119, ext. 206.
