Dorothy Jean Moyer, age 76, of Mendon, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Portage following a brief illness. She was born in Kalamazoo on September 7, 1949, the daughter of Donald and Elizabeth (Wiley) Terry. Dorothy attended Portage Northern High School and was part of the 1969 graduating class. One magical evening, Dorothy would meet the love of her life, Billy Moyer, at the roller rink. The two would marry on September 27, 1972. Dorothy and Billy enjoyed traveling and successfully made it to all 50 states. She enjoyed playing bingo and showing off all her winnings. Dorothy loved to keep busy, sewing and quilting, doing odd crafts, and gardening with her club at Brookdale. She was an avid reader, enjoying romance novels, as well as reading her Bible daily. Above all else, she loved bragging about her daughters and grandchildren; she was extremely proud of all of them and their accomplishments and was very proud to be their mom and grandma.
Dorothy is survived by her five daughters; Wendy Engler, Karie Moyer, Barbara Wolfe, Lynn (Richard) Kloosterman, and Mary (Chad) Hessling, twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings; Beverly Kay and Donald (Dawn) Terry II; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Donald and Elizabeth Terry; her siblings, Douglas Terry and Edwin Terry; and her husband, Billy Moyer.
Visitation for Dorothy will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 10am until 11am at the Eickhoff Funeral Home (311 W Main St., Mendon, MI 49072) with services beginning at 11am with Pastor David Rau officiating. Following services, burial will be held at Beard Cemetery in Leonidas Township. It is suggested that donations made in Dorothy’s name be directed to Centrica Care Navigators.
